What changed with the Suunto Nautic?
The algorithm. Suunto’s legacy models run the RGBM family: the Zoop Novo on Suunto RGBM with full continuous decompression, the Vyper Novo on Deep Stop RGBM, the DX on Fused RGBM. The Nautic platform moves to Buhlmann 16 GF with adjustable gradient factors, a genuine differentiator if your diving leans technical. Around it Suunto built a bright AMOLED display, an integrated LED flashlight, glove-friendly buttons, dual-transmitter air integration, and GPS with offline maps that sync to the Suunto app.

Frequently asked questions
Which Suunto dive computer should a new diver buy?The Zoop Novo at $380. Air, nitrox, gauge and free modes with a built-in planner cover everything an Open Water diver needs. If you can stretch to $480, the Vyper Novo adds a compass, three nitrox mixes and optional wireless air integration.
Suunto dive watch or full-size computer?Three models work as a true Suunto dive watch: the D5 ($755-815) for everyday recreational diving, the Ocean ($1,150) if you also want GPS sports tracking and wrist heart rate, and the DX Silver ($1,200) for technical and rebreather diving. Prefer a bigger screen underwater? The EON Core ($860) is the compact console-style option, and the D4f ($395) is the freediving specialist.
Do Suunto computers pair with air integration?Yes, via the wireless Tank Pod ($480, usually $530), which Suunto lists for the D5 and EON Core; the Ocean supports wireless tank pods too. The Nautic family reads two transmitters at once, and the $1,450 Nautic bundle includes a Tank Pod. The Vyper Novo also accepts an optional wireless pod.
